From September 20 to 22, 2024, the 19th Academic Conference for the Steel-Concrete Composite Structures Branch of the China Steel Construction Society (CSCS) was successfully held in Wuyishan City, Fujian Province. Over 500 delegates attended the conference, including masters, university presidents, national-level high-caliber talents et al. from universities, research institutes, design institutes, and manufacturing enterprises across China.
The conference was organized by the Steel-Concrete Composite Structures Branch of CSCS, and co-hosted by the College of Civil Engineering at Fuzhou University, the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Wuyi University, the College of Civil Engineering at Fujian University of Technology, the College of Transportation and Civil Engineering at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, the College of Civil Engineering at Huaqiao University, the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Xiamen University and the College of Civil Engineering at Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology. It was supported by multiple institutions and enterprises, including the Key Laboratory of Engineering Diagnosis, Treatment, and Renewal of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the School of Civil Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, Shanghai Open Steel Structure Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Jinggong Steel Building Group Co., Ltd., Journal of Building Structures Magazine Office, Shanghai Tonghao Civil Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., Sichuan Lutong Detection Technology Co., Ltd. and Hengshui Siwo New Materials Technology Development Co., Ltd. et al.
On the morning of September 21, the 19th Academic Conference for the Steel-Concrete Composite Structures Branch of CSCS officially commenced. Distinguished guests in attendance included Mr. Zhang Liming, Vice Mayor of Wuyishan Municipal People’s Government; Professor Wang Yuyin, President of the Branch; Professor Fan Jiansheng, Executive Vice President; Vice Presidents Professor Bai Guoliang, Professor Yu Zhiwu, Professor Chen Yiyi and Professor Wang Zhan, National Engineering Survey and Design Master Professor Chen Yiyan, Professorate Senior Engineer Chen Lijian and Professor Liu Jiepeng; Professor Zhang Sumei, Deputy Secretary-General of CSCS and former Vice President of the Branch; and Chief Engineer Shao Changyu, National Engineering Survey and Design Master. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Lai Zhichao, Executive Vice Dean of the College of Civil Engineering at Fuzhou University. The faculty member in this college, Professor Wang Yuyin, President of the Branch, delivered the opening remarks and presented a keynote lecture. During the conference, ten faculty and student representatives in this college delivered plenary lectures, invited lectures, or sub-session lectures, actively showcasing the latest research achievements of our faculty and students in the field of composite structures. The faculty member in this college Professor Guo Lanhui, Secretary-General of the Branch, presided over the closing ceremony.
The Steel-Concrete Composite Structures Branch of CSCS is established in 1986, which is a national socio-economic and technical organization voluntarily composed of scientists, engineering technology experts, and entrepreneurs dedicated to research and applications of steel-concrete composite structures. Harbin Institute of Technology is the founding and host institution of the Branch. The Branch holds a national academic symposium on composite structures biennially, providing a robust academic platform that has significantly facilitated the rapid advancement of steel-concrete composite structures in China and exerted substantial and far-reaching influence. The 20th Academic Conference of the Branch is scheduled to take place in Lanzhou in 2025.
