With the support of the short-term exchange program of the “China–SCO Doctoral Training Innovation Center,” the School of Civil Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), plans to organize an academic visit to the School of Marine Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, Türkiye, in April 2026. The visit will last for approximately five days. We are now inviting faculty members and students from across the university to apply for participation. Details are as follows:
I. Selection Principles
Guided by the principles of openness, integration, and interdisciplinarity, the program encourages joint applications from faculty and students across different schools and disciplines. The delegation will comprise 2 faculty leaders and 8 full-time PhD students.The funding limit is set at RMB 20,000 per person. Expenses within this limit will be reimbursed based on actual costs incurred, while any amount exceeding the limit will be covered up to the limit. Each supervisor may recommend no more than one PhD student.
II. Eligibility Requirements
1. Political and ethical standards: Applicants shall support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, uphold a firm political stance, demonstrate good moral character and professional integrity, and possess a strong sense of patriotism and a commitment to serving national development.
2. Status requirements:
Students: Must be Chinese nationals and full-time PhD students currently enrolled at HIT (students on leave are not eligible), and must not have entered the dissertation defense stage at the time of the visit .
Faculty: Must be full-time HIT employees on the University’s staffing quota, and currently in their post.
3. Competency requirements: PhD applicants should possess strong research capabilities and a track record of academic achievements. Preference will be given to applicants with outstanding English proficiency (e.g., high scores in TOEFL, IELTS, or PETS-5), and applicants should be able to communicate fluently in English in academic settings.
III. Selection Process
Applicants are requested to submit a one-page CV (PDF) to the coordination email address: gao@hit.edu.cn by 12:00 (noon) on December 5. PhD student applications must be approved by their supervisors.
After the selection process, the proposed list will be reviewed by the Graduate School and publicly announced within the University for five working days. If no objections are raised, the list will take effect officially.
